is lake taupo different from lake tekapo? i love the names, though, as they sound like tagalog, the local vernacular back in the old country. 'taupo' is used when knocking on doors, announcing one's presence and at the same time asking if someone's home. 'tekapo' means wait, the 'po' part a polite connective with elders and strangers.
@summerfield It is so interesting the way language must have developed around the Pacific. I think there are quite a few words with Maori and Tagalog that are really similar, but not really any common meaning anymore. I think that is similar with Japanese. There are quite a few Tahitian words that have common meanings though.
