It was great to see my friend Sarah today. We see each other every 4-6 weeks and try and do something nice. Today we headed back to Watts Gallery in Compton just south of Guildford. We were a bit disappointed to discover that both the exhibition gallery was closed for a re-hanging and the chapel which we particularly wanted to see was closed at short notice for emergency tree work to be done.

However we did get to see the main gallery which was being redecorated when we last visited with a stunning array of familiar paintings, some of which my Mum had as prints on the walls when I was little. The Watts Gallery also has a great tea sop and we felt duty bound to try the cakes and coffee.

We visited a small display about Mary Watts and her work as a Suffragist which was fascinating albeit rather small! This is the outside of the Arts and Crafts style gallery that is now open and the bust is in terracotta of George Watts. A very nice day.
