For Katharine and I, the sight of an open fire is an extremely rare event. Once the traditional way of heating our homes, the open fire is almost consigned to history.
We visited the Merchant Taylors Hall on Saturday as part of the York Residents Festival, and to me the sight of a fire in an open fireplace brought back a lot of memories from childhood.
York Residents Festival is an annual event where many local museums offer free or reduced price admissions, and other businesses and restaurants offer discounts. We were only able to take limited advantage of the festival this year, due to gale force winds on Saturday. We will show you more tomorrow.
Thank you all for your lovely comments and favs, they are very much appreciated.
There is something really special about an open fire. It not only feels warm, but it looks warm as well!

Thank you both. It was so nice to see a real fire, I haven't seen one for ages.

Thank you, and thank you for the fav!
