The weather forecast for the last two weeks has on several occasions promised rain, but we have seen very little, until today when we had a more continuous fall, when rain wasn't forecast.
So here it is - rain! ....on the leaves of one of the Queen Elizabeth roses in our front garden. And the irony is that our water company, Yorkshire Water, is bringing in a hosepipe ban!
It is bucketing down here today too. We very often have hose pipe bans in Australia even though we have had plenty of rain for the last couple of years. It is a hangover from our drought.
Lovely shot and raindrops. We had some torrential rain a couple of weeks ago and it was forecast. We were told to expect rain in the beginning of this week but had not even a single drop. After the rain of two weeks ago farmers said that it made more damage than gain, so this time most of them thanked God for the wrong forecast.
Thank you all for your lovely comments and favs, they are very much appreciated.
We are now back to dry conditions again, with no rain forecast for another week, so the gardens are already dry again. This won't help to replenish the reservoirs at all.
I will have a look and comment on your photos a bit later this evening. We have our daughter Louise and her family with us at the moment.
Thank you Nina. We have had a little more rain, but not very much. When we passed through Helmsley at the weekend, the River Rye had totally dried up, something I had never seen before.
