A rather dull day in the Homestead Park in York, shortly before the rain started, and this grey squirrel was busy with a nut when I spotted him. He was quite tame, as a youngster quite close to where I was stood got quite excited on seeing the squirrel, and the squirrel just ignored us all.
More signs of autumn in the background, with a scattering of fallen leaves.
More squirrel related news. Katharine and I have been in York city centre discovering previously unexplored places today (more on that quite soon). We managed to find two more of the Ghosts in the Gardens sculptures, one of which was a rather small squirrel that we had already walked past several times on previous days. Only two more of the Ghosts in the Gardens sculptures left to find now!
Thank you all for your lovely comments and favs, they are very much appreciated.
Although quite attractive, the grey squirrel catn cause a lot of damage to gardens. It's only recently that they have become more common in these gardens, so we haven't seen the effect of their presence yet. One thing that is known is that the native red squirrel has vanished from large parts of England, and there are now major efforts to set up protected areas where the red squirrel can thrive.

Thank you Vesna, they are quite attractive but they can do a lot of damage.
Ian
Thank you Nina, it's fun watching their antics!
Ian
You are right Vesna - people are far bigger creators of damage!
