Never let them walk alone
A thankless job they willingly do
To provide protection for me and you
And they do it.
Never let them walk alone
Hated by many but loved by few
Only they know best the job they must do
And they do it.
Never let them walk alone
An arbitrator, negotiator and
Enforcer of the law
Doctor, lawyer, keeper of the peace
Never let them walk alone
...an except from the National Fraternal Order of Police
My son was one of five sent from Sacramento County Sheriffs Department to attend the 40th Annual National Peace Officers' Memorial Service in Washington, DC. It was held at the US Capitol with speaker, Joe Biden, the President of the United States. (photo 6)
My son decided to take his wife and oldest son, Dillon. I was invited to go to stay with my grandson, while they attended the candlelight vigil and memorial service. This was postponed from May, National Police Week, due to covid. It was completely cancelled in 2020.
This memorial was to honor fallen officers from both 2019 and 2020, while allowing law enforcement, survivors and citizens to gather and pay homage to those who gave their lives in the line of duty.
We also visited the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial which honors officers by permanently recording and commemorating their service and sacrifice. (photos 1,3,5)
Photo 2 was 3 officers from Los Angeles who attended the candlelight vigil that I saw in the Metro.
Photo 4 was taken from the Washington Monument of an assembly of officers on horseback during our visit. I love horses so I was happy to see them...a surprise. Nice on Black.
Respect. Honor. Remember.
