Blackpool 2011

Harry & I went for a walk on Blackpool sea front last night & I want to give you an idea over the next few days how much it has improved lately. I am not the biggest fan of the town by any means but they have spent a huge amount of money over the last 3 or 4 years up dating it's image. This is the first picture & please note the new wide, curved promenade & the grass !!! Further up under the tower area it is all one level with no curbstones much to the worry of any one partially sighted I might add.! I must say it was a lovely walk in the evening sun. Hopefully some day it might have a new image, even if it is just a good place for a family holiday because the beach is wonderful !
I lov ethis Pat - there is so much to look at. The cyclists really draw your eye along the curvy prom and then there's the pier and the big wheel and the Tower, the promise of some illuminations (yippee!) and that great expanse of sky!! It looks clean and sophisticated - a surprise and a fave for me.... Looking forward to more!

They're doing really well Pat (Betty the Speckledy is a bit broody - I have to push her off the eggs) - we get 3 really nice eggs a day. The little devils will try and sleep in the nestbox though - every night I move them on to a perch!!

@judithg Can't you shut the nest boxes up at night ? Ours have a board you can pull up & latch but our daughters hasn't one. They do soon get bad habits !!

@stepheesue Thanks Stephanie, it is a bit far away but for the first picture I thought to give a wider view !

@happypat I'm going to do that next week before we leave them in my daughter's hands - they go in and lay quite early so I'll block it off with some cardboard in the evening and open it when I close them for the night - they don't seem to move once they're perched but you're right - absolute creatures of habit!!

@tsingtao I know what you mean, since living reasonably near for the last 12 years I have got a sort of fascination for the place ! To tell the truth the town is fine but the folks who visit perhaps not my favourite but there again I go !!!!

a nice Blackpool street and tram line shot Pat. My grand parents retired to Blackpool so I spent a lot of time visiting in my teenage years !

Nicely composed with the path leading the eye into the scene.

Super vista, with lots to look at! I love the chicken chat too!

Well it certainly looks like a lovely place for a visit Pat - I don't know much about the history of Blackpool, so I'm easily won over.

I've been there!!!! When I was 8. I remember because they had donkey rides down to the pier. Mine had to be pushed to the end but on the way back he was in full run! Scared the life out of me!!

@shutterbugger They still have the donkeys as far as I know Jen but with much more stringent welfare rules which is as it should be . I don't think they work Fridays now !
