Doctors House. by happypat

Doctors House.

Inspired by @MonicaE I was determined to do a black & white shot today. I had to pick my prescription up in the village so armed with my camera went in search of a suitable subject . I walked all round the place, in the graveyard, up & down the High street & eventually settled on this shot. Not really happy with it & have come to the conclusion you need a defined photo with strong lines for a successful black & white study...this has far too many busy bits.
Our lady doctor lives in this house with her family.

Out tonight at a surprise birthday party so might be a bit lax with the commenting !!!
the b&w makes it look even colder!

What a beautiful scene, Pat. I love it in b&w. I know the feeling of searching for a photo . . I walk and drive around in circles sometimes. And then when you least expect it .. bam! On the b&w thing . . I think that you're on to something. I will now take that into consideration and look for something more defined and with strong lines. Thanks for sharing that, Pat. :)

I think the b&w brings out the character of the old house. I wonder when it dates back to.

beautiful house and I love that stone wall. I like your use of selective color with the pedestrian. I like that your doctor is a woman, too. I think you captured her house brilliantly.

What is the man doing on the right? Is he pushing a push chair or a wheelchair?

It's a beautiful house Pat and great in B&W. Nigel has a Samsung Netbook that he travels with and likes a lot - when I tried it for 365 abroad I found it hard to see the photos properly and edit them on the screen but these things are evolving all the time so there may well be better screens now. It's something to bear in mind though when you're choosing. It is nice to have some way of storing your photos off the camera just in case something happens to your memory stick.

Quite liking this in B&W.

This is lovely Pat - it has a real rural town feel about it - and the B & W is great. I like the contrast of busy on one side and uncluttered on the other. Not sure that that is photographic terminology, but you know what I mean. LOL

I seem to have fallen quite behind on my looking and commenting. I am just now discovering all sorts of gems, like this one! I know what you mean about B&W photos and more defined lines but I have to say that this looks terrific. Your POV is perfect and the composition also very good. I love it. I'm glad I inspired you, Pat!
