This is my B&B man Reg doing what he does which is grooving concrete so the cows don't slip.
The continuous movement of animals over the concrete of yards, feed areas & cubicle house/feed passages together with the mechanical scrapers & loader buckets does in time , produce very smooth & potentially dangerous surfaces for both animals & herdsmen.
This machine & Reg puts the grooves in a chequered pattern so the cows etc can grip while walking. If a cow slips & does what we call the splits the farmer sometimes puts chains on her legs ...like a convict, but it helps her to recover the movement again but anything that cam minimise accidents is vital for cow welfare.
Reg has been coming to stay for quite a number of years now, he is very focussed on his job coming down for a light breakfast at 6am. I fill his flasks & make him a packed lunch.
He is here all week & back again next Tuesday.
Three good things:
1. First time out without a jacket!!
2. I have completely flipped & bought a gorgeous soft faded colour blue & pinkish red checked shirt for Max by Stella MaCartney Kids for £6 at T.K.Maxx but it is for a ten year old..... I might not even be around to see him wear it!!!!!
3. Andrea has had another 5 hour op but seems to be better with less double vision & headache. Fingers crossed!!
He obviously does that all around the area? Not done here - the cows just make more and more mud! You would know. 6am - a long day for you! This would be a noisy and bone shaking job!
@fueast And it's an especially deep and liquid version as a rule!! Love the quality to this shot Pat - really clear - and 365 is once again educational! Max may be big for his age - you may not have to cling on for too long ;0)
@judithg Just spoken to him on the phone & he has lost his croc shoe , it fell in the monkey enclosure at the zoo & Sallie the monkey made off with it!!!!
I'm not surprised Reg has been coming around for years...it sounds like you take very good care of him, Pat. His week at your place is probably the highlight of his work schedule every year! Love the story about the shirt you got for Max. That was quite a bargain for a Stella McCartney shirt...you were no doubt looking more at the price tag than focusing on the size tag. I have a tendency to do that. I'm quite sure you'll be around to see Max wear it...you just might not remember having given it to him. :) So you have TJ Maxx in the UK? I love that store!!
And I love this fabulous shot of Reg hard at work. Marvelous color, clarity and composition!!
Very interesting (I stupidly misread your text at first and thought that Reg was growing concrete!) and a good practical job to help the cows. I like your composition.
Reg has read every one of your comments & says thank you very much!!
