Dereliction

This building believe it or not was a place up until six years ago I spent a lot of my time.
We used to rear calves in here & I had lots of pens with baby calves all lined up in rows.
They all had hay, water & a bucket with ration in & twice a day it used to feed them with warm milk.
I climbed over the gate this afternoon & had a wander round the buildings. The guy who is farming it now just has crops on the land & these barns will be three houses eventually.
Times move on!

Three good things:
1. There stiil seemed to be swallows nests in the eves.
2. Our own new potatoes.
3. Lazy days.
Number 4 because I only did two yesterday.....I feel loads better, thank you all for your kind thoughts!
Great shot and I love the No 4-just for you

Glad you're feeling better by today -- don't overdo things !! Nostalgic thoughts Pat --sometimes it is quite hard to accept these changes even when they are out of your hands !!-- so nice to reminisce though !

Great shot. I'm drawn to the window. I think this would be great also converted into b and w. I love the textures in the bricks.

oh....memories.....nice to remember but then good to have more time to yourselves too after all the intensive farming years. Good the swallows still come!

Oh Pat, I feel the nostalgia in this shot - it must be strange to think of people living in this place redolent of dairy days.

What an interesting capture, especially a place full of memories. Hope they reuse those wonderful old bricks.

Oh what a shame - will you use it again I wonder.

Some great textures and light! Glad you are feeling better.

Beautiful light - looks like he'd have been better keeping more of the walls so it won't fall down. Glad he's not going to demolish it.

Looks a long way off being a house.. could be a challenge for George Clark and his amazing places,,, love his programs.. bet you are happy you are not having to feed those slobbery calves any more..

Its a great thing if someone has the energy to build! the ceiling looks strong. But too much work for my age group. Surprising amount of light in this shot - it would probably be quite dark. Keep well!

glad you are feeling better Pat, there is something rather beautiful about an old out building :)

I'm sure it brought back some great memories

Great shot! Must have been strange going back...!
June 17th, 2014
Oh those days of feeding calves!!! You've got great depth into this shot

Oh what a sad scene. I always work on the theory that you can never go back, sometimes when you try to it is disappointing.
Glad to hear you are feeling better. Take it easy.

Lots of work to go! I like the pov and the neat(ish) pile of bricks amongst the mess! Glad you are feeling better.

@teiko I have learnt a word today Emillie!

Such a sad scene - especially with all your wonderful memories. I suppose it's good that the building will still serve some use in future and not just be demolished.
