My friend & I went to the cinema last night to watch a live link up with The National Theatre Company performance of Skylight starring Bill Nighy & Carey Mulligan.
A different experience completely but my whole evening was spoilt by the man sitting next to me. Although it was in the cinema & the sound was loud & vision excellent this guy seemed to think he was sitting in a live theatre......it was a completely different audience than our usual Wednesday afternoon jaunts!
I was very ....very quietly fishing a few hoopla hoops out of a very small bag when he leaned over & said ....' Will you stop messing with that bag I'm trying to listen' I felt about 6 inches tall !
I brooded all evening what I was going to say to him....wasn't going to let him get away with that...!
At the end of the show when the lights went up I leaned over & said I had objected to the way he had spoken to me...not so much what he said but the way he had said it! No please, just as if he was talking to a child...I told him he was a very rude man......he flustered a bit then told me to 'P--- off'
I rest my case!
Funnily enough when I got home & turned my bag out there was my mobile phone switched on....all hell would have broken out if that had gone off!
Stunning sunset when we came out but I forgot my camera!
Three good things:
1. Loving having @busylady & her husband to stay.
2. Enjoying the Open Golf at Hoylake specially Peter Allis commentary.
3. I might have got away with getting caught by a speed camera....I was just going past when he whipped his gun out.....it would catch me slightly to the side of my number plate. Will have to wait it out!
@seanoneill oh my hero....thanks Sean! He was an ignorant chap....you can't believe how quiet I was too, so frightened of making a noise! I told him I had paid for that seat & I could do what I liked in it, that's when he stalked off with his wife running after him! You have to laugh!
I love your pic to illustrate this little story! There are some ignorant people about. {A motorist appeared to be waiting for me to come out of a side road but I wasn't sure because he/she (couldn't tell gender) flashed but then started to move forward so I decided to sit it out and waved the motorist on who then took off with a screeching of tyres at speed - I guess the main thing for us is to learn to ignore these little happenings!}
@quietpurplehaze@claireuk I agree...I didn't actually mind him telling me to be quiet although I was VERY quiet but it was the way he said it...a man who doesn't give women much respect...we both felt sorry for the wife!
Ooh don't tell me if Skylight was rubbish though as we've got tickets to the live version! I'm just all over when Bill Nighy performs. Well a very rude man indeed and well done you for putting him in his place. And if all he could do was think of foul language as a riposte then you definitely won! Say he'll to @busylady - we are overdue a coffee!
Nothing but a bully.. These types are every where .. it makes you wonder why they bother to go out .. cause they can't be enjoying themselves... great shot..
Its very difficult when they are so close to you and you can't stalk out! I can visualise the feeling between you two - like a fused bomb. I always think of something better to say long afterwards. So these are hoopla hoops? Nice lighting - they look very crisp.
That is a great story, annoying too, I've often been annoyed by someone else being rude and its ruined my night and I wish I had the guts to put them in their place, good for you.
The man obviously lacked basic good manners. Well done to you for your measured but firm response ....Go Girl! BTW, I love the image on the black background!
Oh dear, sorry your day was ruined. I think I would have told him that if he wasn't happy sitting behind you he should find somewhere else to sit. After all he was the one with the problem wasn't he. At least you got him flustered in the end.
