Can't we two go walking out beyond the valley of the trees?
Out where the hillside of heather, curtsyn' gently in the breeze.
That's what I'd like to do , see the heather but with you.
The mist of May is in the gloamin' & all the clouds are holding still.
So take my hand & let's go roamin' through the heather on the hill,
The morning dew is blinkin' yonder, the music in the rill
And all I want to do is wander through the heather on the hill.
From Brigadoon.
Three good things:
1. A new telephone.
2. Diesel is the cheapest it's ever been for a long time!
3. I think I might have taken the photo I like enough to enter for the local newspaper competion....closing date next Tuesday.
The simplicity of composition, the sheep and their cousins - the fluffy clouds, and of course that gorgeous heather all combine to make this a winner for me. Fav.
@maggiemae it's a song from the film Brigadoon Maggiemae so Scottish yes. Looking at it I think I should lighten it a little, the heather looks a little too dark.
@happypat It is a lovely shot Pat, love the sheep in the foreground... perhaps you could crop a bit of sky and green foreground to make it a panorama? just an idea...
This is really lovely - I think that it would be nice to see what it looks like as @julzmaioro suggested, as it will accentuate the lines of the fence, the green and the heather against the sky. I love the poem too.
Wow what an amazing colour. We used to collect sprigs of heather on the Pennines when we were travelling to Yorkshire to visit my Nanna when we were kids and put it in the car for good luck. We always left some for Nanna too.
@julzmaioro@dide I am tempted to crop it as you say....would like to see a little more of the stone wall but the format is landscape in the competition so I think more of a letterbox might rule it out....thanks for all your suggestions, always welcome!
Thank you all very much.....I waited to see what you all thought of this photo but I think I will enter this one but might just lighten the hill & heather.
