This is the lovely path that climbs up to Orrest Head In the Lake District.
Of all the photos I took last Friday on my afternoon out it was this climb to the top that provided me with in my opinion the best pictures.
I have been to the funeral of the farmer we bought this farm from in 1999 & the inhabitant of house number ten on our lane. He was 92 so a life well lived ....Harry didn't feel he could go, his face is very swollen but feeling better this afternoon.
Three good things:
1. Eating cream cake in the middle of the day!
2. The rain has been & gone!
3. Thick opaque tights.
A beautiful lane -- isn't it amazing how much green there is around at this time of the year -- the evergreen trees ,I suspect a hint of green on one or two deciduous trees and the moss that clings to the road edge and walls in this damp and shaded walk .
I am pleased that Harry is feeing a little better - so much better for him to rest at home in the warmth ,but I am sure you were glad to be able to pay your last respects to this neighbour of great age ..
I had cream cake at 10.14am yesterday does that count as middle of the day? Lovely shot Pat. Wonderful greens and detail I'd love a walk along there. Beautiful.
@newbank ha ha Ruth worse than mid day but there again you are a busy girl who will work it off, I have done nothing since I came home except sit in a chair!
@beryl Looking at this photo I can't believe how green it does look Beryl....I never just noticed it was so green at the time I must say but it was a really pretty walk!
@julzmaioro It was slippy Julz...I was quite unsteady at the top! One thing I have noticed lately that I lose my balance more often on uneven surfaces! A sign of age I'm afraid!
This looks just like the path in the woods where I grew up in Bolton ...can you imagine, we used to walk to primary school on our own along a path like this !! We used to walk on top of the wall too...Happy memories evoked by your photo Pat :)
@pinkpaintpot No Linda it was poor that's why there are no beautiful photos of Lake Windermere.......cloudy but mostly because the sun was In the wrong place!
Such a gorgeous pathway. It invites you to keep going. I just love those mossy stacked stone walls.
So good to hear that Harry is on the mend!
And following the funeral of a long time acquaintance, cake is a perfectly acceptable form of self-condolence...no matter what the time of day.
Beautiful shot. Just checked out your photos over the last few days. Been out of touch while we are away. At my daughters niw for a few days so wont be home till next week. Hope Harry is on the mend. So sorry to hear he has had to have more surgery.
Fav Pat. Poor Harry sounds really sore. Melanomas are a bugger because you have to take so much - my friend's mum had a chunk out of her leg - takes a good while to heal.
