The lines of growth on these fields reminded me of my two boys when the were very small & dressed in their corduroy trousers.
I love little boys in corduroy!
Three good things:
1. An afternoon sitting in the warm kitchen reading.
2. Radio 2
3. I left a pizza out of the freezer by mistake yesterday so an easy evening meal tonight,
Hi Jen, Carol, Linda, Bep & Beryl, sorry to reply to you all together but am short of time tonight & as I didn't talk to any of you last night I feel grateful for your lovely comments! I have chatty B&Bs in at the moment!
@newbank oh I want to see a photo when you've time! Cream ones too how lovely, mine just had brown ones! I am reading Brooklyn....the same book as the film that's out on Friday...loving it!
Do we not have corduroy any more? I must admit - haven't seen it around. You have a great eye seeing these lines to remind you! I do like the way they stretch out towards the white cottage in the trees! fav
I like that.....and it's funny what brings memories back! Now you've got me thinking! D&J had grey ones and granny had knitted matching jumpers..... aah!
You are right it does look very much like corduroy. But not little boys my FIL use to wear brown corduroy pant all the time and he use to stub out his cigerettes
The last dance with Valentino. By daisy waugh I think. Never read anything by her before, it's different but I'm liking different. Just finished before the tea planters wife by dinah Jefferies which was fabulous!
@maggiemae I think it's perhaps a big out of date these days though I like traditional things. I'm sure I saw cord as its called these days in M&S last week. Thank you for the Fave.
@sarah19 littke Connor will have to have a pair Sallie....at least now your grandsons will get plenty of wear out of every pair of trousers.....poor little Charlie will be wearing cast offs all his youth!!
@julzmaioro How funny......just shows how long corduroy has been going. It's called cord now anyway but you can still get them here. Rolling his fags .......burn marks all over them, these farmers!
Lovely shot and it looks great in b&w. You don't see corduroy much these days do you. Our girls had corduroy dungarees in the 70s and corduroy was very popular when I was a 'mod' in the 60s, along with leather too.
Love the texture and all those lines! I had a brown needle cord skirt which I loved! I wore it with a beautiful autumn mix colour jumper - I thought I looked great! Those were the days!
I love this image Pat and it's very effective in B&W. I've added your book titles to my list. Love to have recommendations. Corduroy well my boys both had corduroy trousers and I still wear 'cords' quite a lot!
A story for you pat..... So last Friday morning I was taking kiddies to library asked eldest which books he had finished with to return...he gave me one that we'd only got out the day before. I said have you read this already we only got it yesterday. The book was 250 pages long with pictures on some pages.... To cut a long story short we figured out that as it was 8 am in the morning and he hadn't started it at bedtime that he had "sneakily" read it half the night long.... He thought he was in lots of trouble and announced in tears that it was just toooooo good. I told him about someone I knew on 365 who often read late late late into the night because books were too good. He has just suddenly announced over tea. Mummy that person on 365 are they old? If they are old they aren't reading all night because the book is good but because they are old and they don't need so much sleep anymore!! I didn't confirm whether the books were good or if you were old!
@newbank Oh I laughed so much at this Ruth, you have a very intuitive little boy & he is dead right I am very old to him....to me too sometimes! He is so right about the amount of sleep us oldies need too......tell him he would never be in trouble for reading too much. I remember reading at night under the blankets with torchlight & my mum coming in to see if I was asleep. Of course I gave the game away by being very red in the face from being under the covers...I never remember being told off though!
I sympathise reading a book that's too good to put down. I am enjoying Brooklyn at the moment & have just read the film review in the morning paper which has given it five stars.. .. Out in cinemas today.
Thanks for telling me that story & a big hug to your little readers.
@happypat he most certainly wasn't told off! I told him another story about a mummy and a tiny baby and the first book that was read to that tiny baby and how the mummy hoped the tiny baby would grow to enjoy books as much as his mummy and daddy. He asked was the baby him so I think he knows he wasn't in any trouble! I was grateful for library's when he was very little but in the last 12 months I'm very grateful. He goes through soooooooooooo many books! Books are to him what footballs are to lots of little boys.
