We had a lovely Christmas Day & some photos here to prove it.
So lucky to receive some gorgeous presents, just what I wanted!
Always some places missing at our table but happy in the knowledge that the missing ones are enjoying their Christmas too 12000 miles away. I know they to think some empty chairs at their end too!
Not so happy for some though here in Lancashire & the North West of England with very heavy rain falling & severe flooding here & in the Ribble Valley. Even the centre of Manchester is threatened.
A miserable worrying time for residents but we must be so grateful for the emergency services for having their Christmas ruined too.
They have worked tirelessly for weeks now.
We returned through St Michaels last night around 11pm & they were out moving the heavy pumping equipment to a better pumping place.
If you see the flooding map on TV you can pinpoint the exact position of our house by looking at the River Wyre estuary from Fleetwood & where the end of the wide bit is our fields start right there & that's where the pictures I take from our garden look out over.
True heroes!
Thank you all for all your Christmas wishes yesterday & I hope your Christmas Day was all you wished for!
What a beautiful collection of photos Pat! Yes, terribly miserable for those folks who have been flooded several times. Fairly wet here and very windy.
A lovely Christmas collage. I was thinking, this morning, about all those people who won't be spending Christmas in their own homes. Well done for mentioning the people who work for the emergency services - must be grim for them and their families too.
Merry Christmas Pat - looks like a lovely day! Ours was somewhat chaotic, and there were a few tears as well as laughter ... but that's what families are about! Shocked that there are more flooding disasters.
Just checked your weather forecast - a red rain alert so they say! Goodness that's miserable. Will clear up eventually. Nice to see these bright and cheerful photos! We don't have Downton Abbey till the 13th!
@maggiemae You would t believe the scenes of flooding over here maggiemae. Whole towns under water everywhere & even the centre of Manchester threatened. All Lancashire& some of Yorkshire in dire straits. We are cut of to the east again as St Michaeks is once again under water, it's just terrible & no signs of the rain letting up.
a lovely collage Pat. Sounds like a very happy day. we talked to our little family over your side of the world on Skype. Arent we lucky to have such communications. when my Grandparents came to Australia they only had letters which took 6 weeks each way! Have just looked at flooding on internet. It is a real tragedy.
@cruiser it's so easy to be in touch I agree Chris. When you talk,on the phone they could be next doors! Not so good skyping though as the reception so bad where Ant & Jo live. Hopefully it will improve when they get the man out again to fix it. Flooding is so bad here!
Have been thinking of you while reading the news of the flooding. I hope there is a quick recovery from the flood damage. Sounds as if you had a good Christmas despite the rain. I recognise the happy hens, I added a few more to my collection at christmas too. I will have to post a photo
So pleased santa was kind to you. Gosh you really are getting a raw deal with the weather.
