A brisk walk along the prom this afternoon to blow the cobwebs away.
We were not alone, everyone was out trying out new bikes, skate boards, scooters, skates etc you name it all the new Christmas presents were on the move.
Blackpool promenade was the perfect place too, plenty of space & good smooth surfaces.
I did notice that both girls & boys were pedalling or scooting, where are all the little girls & their dollies prams these days?
Three good things:
1. A good brisk walk to get us moving again.
2. Leftover turkey!
3. Hundreds of dogs having good walkies at the seaside.
Did you see on channel 4 last night Britains Favourite Childrens Books? I started it then got dragged off to play scrabble. Catching up with it on catch up now.
Neat shot.. the little girls bike is very shiny.. I was up on the Auckland waterfront and saw the same thing .. the day before at the beach and saw a girl on a new paddle board and she was having lots of problems.. she should of practiced on a quieter beach..
I'm surprised you even got there taking in the fact that so many roads were closed! I have noticed that there mostly seems to be a Dad alongside the child with a new bike which is so good! Nice to see the blue sky!
Fabulous shot and what a tonic to have sunshine after all the water that came down!!! We had a little walk too......still full of the cold but no worse after the fresh air!!!!
@newbank Just caught the las littke bit, I could have kicked myself for missing it but will watch on IPlayer soon. I saw the top one which I won't tell you!
@sarah19 I think the world & his family out today, good to get out after being cooped inside but my legs are aching tonight & we on,e walked two miles! Can't believe how out of condition I am!
Sunshine Pat! You certainly need it. Those repeated floods must be heartbreaking for people trying to get their lives back together. Super Boxing Day picture.
Just finished. Except for no 4 ive read/own all the top 20 and a good chunk of the top 50. Lovely memories. Now discussing what our favourite childhood books were. What was yours? I loved anything by shirley hughes. Adore them again now re reading them. Not sure if its just happy memories or if its that the illustrations are evocative of my childhood too.
@newbank well I haven't watched it but my favourite akways Littke Women & 3 following books. Heidi, The Secret Garden, any Enid Blyton at the beginning. Boarding School books particularly. A nursing series by Helen Dore Boylston. Anne of a green Gables, Mark Twain & of course The Wind in the Willows to name a few. I hated Alic in Wonderland! Will watch it tomorrow! I have lots of these books in my bookcases in the B&B bedrooms, I think when you only have a couple of nights stay it's good to dip into these old favourites. I don't recognise Shirley Hughes, must google her. After my time!
@newbank ah Shirley Hughes...Alfie dear old Alfie.....love those books, my grand children's time! I have bought my two in NZ the books called I Love My Mummy.....Daddy & Cathy just bought them this Christmas I Love My Granny.
All my favourites!!! I know Anne of green gables of by heart almost still!! Loved little women and the secret garden too.Sammy loves Enid blyton too. We got him wind in the willows on audio cd at Christmas so he is listening to that at the moment. I hated Alice too....never got into it. I'm not sure I'd leave your B and B, looks so cozy and now I know you have books too!!!
Such a wonderful scene Pat -- all enjoying the fresh air with their new toys under a blue sky . we had a lovely sunny morning but it soon turned to rain again this afternoon !
that looks like it would blow the cobwebs away and walk off the excess food. Its always lovely to see the children out with their new bikes etc after Christmas. Youve captured the atmosphere very well
@happypat no we didn't, missed the treat. although I noticed the one higher up the road was offering mulled wine. we didn't try it though. only sorry Higginsons wasn't open
I think all the prams are in storage or at the museum! shame as they are beautiful. Nice clear colorful shot with nice lead in lines from the cyclists.
