This is the main high street in the city of Preston Lancashire & the main large town I would go to for proper shopping.
It looks very quiet I know but the traffic is directed away from Fishergate mostly as they try to keep it pedestrian only. Not that many of them either but it was busier than it looks.
The big white stone building on the right is a large M&S & there is a shopping centre on the right just past there & one also down at the very end adjacent to the railway station.
I stood in the middle of the road to take this shot, just had to keep an eye open behind me!
The trees are a fairly new addition but I think they add so much to the whole area.
Lots of lovely parks around Preston too so we aren't short of green spaces.
Three good things:
1. The first time I had ventured into town since I broke my ankle but I was so ready for a trip round the shops. Surprisingly hard work it was too, my ankle was tired before I got off the carpark but I coped ok.
2. Sale time, not that I'm a big sale person as I always like the new stuff but I picked up a couple of bargains.
3. Our favourite M&S stir fry for supper.
I feel I'm going on a 'virtual' shopping spree with your street photos! This looks much improved from the Preston I remember (too many years ago to mention!).
@julzmaioro it was lovely to get out Julz but was disappointed at my lack of go! It will come back eventually but I usually am quite quick at walking but slow today!
A lovely pov & I like the trees too. Glad your ankle just stood up to the outing. As it happens Ray & Neil have been choppong down bits of trees in our garden this evening. casserole in the oven wine in the fridge!
A lovely looking street Pat , with wide pavements --I could zoom along here quite easily but wouldn't like attempting the walk -- glad your leg is getting stronger -- give it time and you will be skipping along such street !!
There are very few muscles around the ankle that you can strengthen so I can imagine how weak your ankle feels! This is a nice British picture - no verandahs as in NZ. But I prefer verandahs when its raining!
@maggiemae Yes verandahs are very good in the rain! It was raining a little bit as you can see by the wet streets but I never put my brolly up. Ankle a bit sore tonight but not as bad as I thought it might be!
Nothing like a bit of retail therapy. Hope the ankle managed okay. I usually walk at break neck speed and having to walk slowly after I fractured my ankle was terrible. I hated walking like an old person, :)
Lovey shot Pat. You are so good at these street scenes. I shall expect some lessons!! Pleased your ankle managed it. Frustrating to have to walk slowly though. After my surgery I came home complaint that they had moved the shops further away as it took so long to get there!
Now I know your tup north, but not one flat cap, clogs or whippets in sight. (You know I'm joking don't you Pat). Lovely shopping street and I'm glad you hopping about again.
