Lads day out. by happypat

Lads day out.

Dump the girlfriends this is a lads day out!

Never mind a bit of rain, who cares when you can get your head into a machine?

We enjoyed the show even in the rain, we are a hardy lot up north!
It took us two hours to get in as the normal way in down a narrow country road was closed because the bridge had given way in the floods. We almost gave up but as it was throwing it down we carried on thinking it might have stopped by the time we got to the show.
I packed sandwiches as normally you can hardly get near a food outlet, Sod's law that yesterday it was so quick to get a meal & those burgers did look & smell so good!
The car park fields were very muddy & for some stupid reason we went in my rear wheel drive car so had to be towed off the field.

Three good things:
1. To help my disturbed nights sleep I bought myself a wool pillow. I like a very soft one but bought the firm one as it was only £2 more & you can take the wool until you get it at just the right softness. I actually had enough left over to fill Harry one too!
No more hot heads allegedly!
2. Hot chocolate.
3. Our boots are now mud free.
An eventful outing! You deserve wool pillows, the both of you, Pat!

2 hours?!! I don't think I'm that patient! Lol. Good idea about the pillow!

Boys' toys! I wouldn't mind having a wee drive though!

Glad you survived the day even if you had to be pulled off the parking field ! All these machinery -- fascinating and as Jennifer @jmj says I wouldn't mind a go in one !!
September 9th, 2016
@jmj @beryl Ooh you two are quite daredevils then!!
September 9th, 2016
@jesperani Yes I was on the verge of giving up Jennifer but we had already paid on line for our tickets & it was supposed to clear up!

Fascinating machines.

@quietpurplehaze Will report on them when we have had a few nights sleep on them. They weren't very expensive actually, I was surprised at the price!

@happypat

Will be interested. We bought Tempur pillows but found them like sleeping on stone, gave them away.
September 9th, 2016
@quietpurplehaze Well I was most uncomfortable last night & had to get up twice to take wool out of the pillow but hope I've cracked it now. The firm one I bought was very firm but you just unzip the pillow & remove as required.
@beryl Welsh wool it is too Beryl, a company called Baavet.

The lads just love it.. shame it was so wet. But pleased you made the best of it. Love wool pillows.. with lavender inside .. zzźzzzz
September 9th, 2016
@julzmaioro lavender inside, now you're giving me ideas! Must say the pillow wasn't that successful last night but hoping for better tonight! Welsh wool instead of NZ wool!
September 9th, 2016
@happypat :) I had not even heard of wool filled pillows Pat -- I am sure -- the Wlelsh Ba lambs will give you a good night's sleep eventually !
September 9th, 2016
Bet there were lots of people willing to tow you! I'll be interested in your pillow results - we have a wool mattress topper that I love - have had it on all summer.
September 9th, 2016
@judithg Was tempted with the duvet too but thought we'd better test drive the pillow first! Will report on results soon.
September 9th, 2016
@beryl Hopefully Beryl! The factory is in Snowdonia.
September 9th, 2016
yep. if you already have your tickets ya have to go! been a few wet ones myself...trouble is just gets more sludgy as the days goes on...dirty wellies!
September 9th, 2016
@brennieb Dirty boots! Harry had his wellies in the car but I have no idea what we were thinking of, relying too much on the weather turning out sunny but it didn't!

A day full of challenges for you! Big Boy's toys never fail to draw the men! I thought wool was an insulator so that when you would put your head on it - it would hold the heat from your head and make you hot? Be interested to learn more. Bamboo ones are being promoted now for being cool!
September 9th, 2016
ah yes. Boys and their toys. Sounds like you need to be pretty rugged to to have got to your show. I have never seen wool pillows. I have a memory foam one which i love.
September 10th, 2016
They all look very muddy. I'm not surprised you had to be towed.
September 10th, 2016
Ha ha, I know that feeling. My hubby and I split up, I do the stalls industrial and craft tents while he does the machinery. We did make it to the show - a last minuet decision - and enjoyed it despite the weather. Mind you if the weather had been good we would not have been there!!!!
September 10th, 2016
@shirleybankfarm Well that's the way it is with farming, have to get on while the weathers there! Harry & I normally split up but we didn't this year. Now we are retired Harry likes to look round everything now so it's quite nice.

You have a wonderful way of telling a story Pat! And very good at looking on the bright side! Interested in the wool pillows. ....must explore. And great photo!

Bring the mud boots - looks wet! - so sorry I have been neglecting my commenting the last week but have had company steady. I thought it would be rude to neglect my guests to be on the computer! (But I did miss my time with 365!)
