Lovely scenery today as we watched the Ironman race.
Anthony & I went in for 7am & watched the swimmers set off across the lake for a 2.4 miles.
Next on to the bikes for a 112 mile bike ride & lastly 26 miles of track running.
Gruelling to say the least!
All ages competing, even two eighty year olds doing the half marathon triathlon.
Jo was stewarding, lots of volunteers which must have been rewarding.
The snow capped mountain in the distance is Mount Ruapehu, the one we visited on Thursday up the cable car.
Fantastic ... have just heard a local lad that has been training hard around here got 12th so he is pretty wrapped... they are amazing athletes that compete in these events...
@julzmaioro wow that's an amazing achievement Julz. Jo's friend came 329th, no idea how many competitors but hundreds if not a thousand or two! Two thousand volunteers alone!
That is amazing - what you said to Julia! So many competitors and volunteers. Imagine the preparation and management! A big day for you but fun! Looks a bit windy!
