Canal side gardens! by happypat

Canal side gardens!

It’s interesting walking along the canal path you get to see all the backs of the houses leading down to the waters edge.
So many of them have added to their gardens by building decking & putting tubs of flowers to brighten it up.
I had to take this photo of this house as it’s the very first house that our daughter & her new husband bought when they got married in 1992.
Needless to say they had no fancy decking then just a grassy slope.
They stayed in that house for I think about four years if I remember rightly.

Three good things:
1. Moving onwards & upwards.
2. Beautiful ripe peaches.
3. M&S ham & cheese pizza!
4. Brian & Lesley’s 31st wedding anniversary!
It must be a beautiful place to walk.

Idyllic Pat --my idea of heaven !! I would love to have a canal or running water at the bottom of my garden to display some pots and plants ! My family home in Wales had a small river at the bottom of the garden and we had a garden gate so we could go onto the river's edge to play and fish ! fav

@beryl sounds perfect Beryl...I did say to Harry I would really like to live there up to the water like that, always something to see. The only water I would live up to as I’m not keen on water, well the sea but this is pretty!
@joansmor It was quite busy on the side we walked on....just down the road from a canal side Italian eatery with lots of different things to do.

it;s a lovely canal side garden Pat. I think I might be worried about rats if I lived so close to water

They must have had a good reason to shift from here! How nice to sit on that deck and watch the passing traffic with a G&T in hand! This is a very pretty photograph!

It looks delightful, but you wouldn't want to be a sleep walker if you lived there would you.

Almost feels as if we are invading their privacy but lovely

Wow... so pretty!

How interesting to go back and view it again when the house is known to you. I have often wondered about living by the water's edge, though I suspect Summer mozzies would be a problem! Lovely shot.

How marvelous to have a waterside deck and garden. A charming setting. I always love your 3 (or 4) good things.

@sangwann looks lovely but was too small & you can’t see it from this side but right next door to the very busy village shop.

@casablanca Ha ha I can’t remember the mozzies but thy did have trouble with ground elder!

@maggiemae Yes they all make the most of their position now.....first one did it then they all followed suit. My friend lives a bit further up but they just have a seat & she hates all the walkers on the very busy path from Owd Nells walking along, stopping & gazing up to the backs of their houses!
