A terrible photo but this steamed up shot typifies the day we had at the show ground.
It poured with rain the whole day.....we arrived at 9.10am after doing three breakfast & left at around 4pm.
I took my wellies with me just in case I might need them but discovered when I got there they weren’t mine...had to walk round in my better walking boots.
Enjoyed our day all the same but was glad to get into a hot shower & a change of clothes.
Three good things:
1. Called for fish & chips in the village on our way home. Put them in the Aga while we got dried up!
2. I bought a packet of those bees wax wrapping stuff... it’s good to wrap cheese in apparently.....I’m hoping it will stop the opened cheese from going mouldy round the outside.
3. Harry & I celebrate our 57th wedding anniversary today....well we didn’t do anything special but enjoyed our day!
Its a great photo depicting the trying conditions.. You are from farming stock so a bit of water doesn't put you off..
Congrats on your wedding anniversary💕..
The bee wraps are great with cheese have used them for two years now.. no mouldy cheese..
Happy Anniversary Pat and Harry - what a lovely way to spend your day - just the two of you ! Just sorry that the weather did not behave for you at the Show ! A wonderful steamy shot to give us the feel of the miserable weather !
@julzmaioro Oh that’s good to know Julz as they were more expensive than I had hoped....£14 for two medium sized ones...hope they are worth if! I hadn’t bought anything else so went for them. I don’t think they last more than a year though.
@beryl@mave Thank you so much Beryl & Mave, was a nice way to spend our day! Have dried out now but my Seasalt waterproof coat was wet inside & out! Boots are on top of Age rack....will need a good brush in the morning to get rid of the mud!
@happypat yeah you have to be pretty careful for washing.. i do a quick dip in hot water then drip dry.. i have had another set in that time @dide made some for me..
Congratulations on your wedding anniversary! I use beeswax wraps all the time now - for my sandwiches, covering food dishes (but not meat dishes) and have cut down on the amount of plastic cling wrap that I use. As @julzmaioro said, I have also made some bright colourful ones and gave them away for Christmas last year. I have more fabric cut, but haven't got around to doing them yet. I should have done them in the winter, as it gets hot ironing the beeswax into them and the bees hang around if it is summertime!
@dide They sound tricky to make Dianne....we are only just cottoning on to them so I haven’t heard much feed back so good to hear your views. Must remember about the meat dishes then!
57 years together is just run-of-the-mill stuff! No need for celebration!! Ha - no seriously this is amazing - setting a great example! This sort of rain gets down the neck and into your socks! Miserable but good you had the aga on!
Happy, happy anniversary to you and Harry!! Rain on a wedding day is supposed to be good luck. I imagine that works as well on an anniversary, although after 57 years I'd say you and Harry have all the luck you need in the marriage department. I love this rainy day photo.
Happy anniversary to both. May you have many more years of happy marriage. The rain would have spoiled my day because we are not used to stay out in the rain. You got a very nice and atmospheric capture to show the weather conditions.
Happy happy anniversary to you, dear Pat, and your darling Harry! 57 years......my parents have their 59th in a couple of weeks. I salute you all!
An agricultural show in the rain.......well, I guess it fits with the many occasions the rest of the year when farmers battle with the elements!
Congrats on your wedding anniversary💕..

Good shot of the miserable weather.
Did the boots survive?
