So much work goes into these rag rugs that they are expensive to buy, that’s if you can find one that is!
This one was in a Women’s Institute display at a show.
My Aga is crying out for one of these rugs! 😃
Three good things:
1. I have been watching three episodes of The Crown this afternoon. We got Netflix for Christmas specially so I could watch it....started with first episode so a long way to go!
2. Two very nice B&B guests in for a family do in the the village.
3. Eating up day so more room in the fridge!
Gorgeous rugs. Nothing was wasted in times gone by.
I'd seen the earlier episodes of The Crown last year and found it fascinating. So when I started with this series I watched three in a row!!!! The girls are highly amused!!!
Interesting reading comments on historical accuracy online. And adjusting to new actors in roles. Seeing history differently.
Oh this shot brought back memories. My Nanna used to make rag rugs and we had one behind the counter in our shop when I was a child. We also had one in the kitchen. Nanna was always busy making rugs for her local WI.
@sarah19 Yes I agree & I did find it riveting today. I think there has been some report of a bit of licence with the truth but generally I do think it’s generally correct. I have watched three episodes up to now & looking forward to the rest!
@lyndamcg. Made from old clothes Lynda...you cut them into strips & hook the pieces through a sort of canvas backing.....everyone used to make them but now they are craft & expensive!
Beautiful capture. At first I thought it was a sloping street covered with colourful flowers. That rug must have taken ages and lots of patience to finish.

Sounds as if your holidays are going well!
