We looked through the window last night & saw our neighbours house lit up by the setting sun.
I went out in the front garden & took this photo.
Together with our daughter Cathy...aka the little shopper....Amanda from across the road has been another little angel.
She brings a Harry’s paper every morning & any other last minute stuff we need. She brought us masks & gloves & a jigsaw, I have two jigsaws to tackle now....going to make a start on the easier one!
We have been so lucky to have help to be able to stay inside without breaking our quarantine.
Our nephew brought us some eggs last night & left them in the post box.
Three good things:
1. Enjoying the array of bookcases behind all the TV presenters....I love a good bookcase!
2. Kindness
3. Apparently our local newsagents have erected a plastic screen op over the counter....protecting staff.....sensible options.
How lovely does this look.! Our kids doing ours between them...trying not ask them to get too much..trying be frugal and use stuff out the freezer too..such a worrying time
Love and kindness will help us through these difficult days.
Take heart....David and Jenn were back at school today (and the little guys were allowed to go with parents.)
They're so glad to be getting back to 'normal'....ish!!
@sarah19 So glad Sallie, you must have been worried about them...you have been remarkably quiet in your worry though! Hope we can get to that stage too sometime soon. Not looking hopeful just this minute but it will pass!
Such a lovely sight - it is also lighting up the branches of your tree ! A few of my neighbours have offered to help in any way but at the moment I have managed as Gary doing the grocery shop for me -but it is good to know that there is someone out there if needed !
Matthew 5, verse 45 - a good quote from the bible! I'm so thankful we have the same caring people around too - having no family near. Neighbours house is huge!
Nicely captured. We received an e-mail this morning, sent by some members of the local authorities of our village: a list of names and telephone numbers in case you might need some help.
@beryl Ooh definitely Beryl....one thing about Gary he will know your usual shop & wont mind getting the more obscure. It’s good to know there are people to help if needed! It’s been amazing watching the comradeship among most of us.
@judithg It’s been the best thing about the whole disaster ...the way people have rallied round to help. Loved the exercising street on the news today!
@gijsje Excellent Bep, always good to know there is someone willing to rely on if stuck. Not sure how things are in the Netherlands but hope you stay safe!
Paimpont is a small village and we're approx 3-4 kilometres beyond. The Bakery, Butcher/Deli and 1 stop shop (5* IMHO) are taking orders by phone and delivering beyond the village twice a week to ensure no-one is without supplies etc. I'm humbled by...and proud of by how much assistance & goodwill is available.
@happypat
Not a total lockdown, schools closed (third week now) and they have to stay closed until April 28th. People have to stay home as much as possible et cetera.
@s4sayer@gijsje We all seem to be experiencing similar rules then....I just wish the ones that are still going out would behave!
It’s very humbling to see the kindness & generosity of our fellow beings. Like most I would rather be not the ones needing help & be out doing my bit! I don’t like being one of the vulnerable ones...I don’t feel vulnerable at all but suppose I am.
Well spotted, love the sunlight on the house. So glad people are keeping an eye on you and doing your shopping. We have some friends here who are totally on their own with no family nearby so we are keeping an eye on them.
The light on the house is amazing - I thought it was electricity - and a beautiful shot overall. Human friendship and kindness is being demonstrated everywhere and by everyone all the time and that gives one hope that the human kind is still there notwithstanding its many faults.
Pat, your photo is lovely. I'm enjoying all the comments from others concerning our "new normal". Despite our trials, we are witnessing humanity at its best.
