It’s been a wet day today so not much chance of a photo.
Harry & I went to the graveyard with the drill.
The planter I had filled with plants for my dad & mums grave was water sodden so we drilled some holes in the bottom for better drainage.
Three good things:
1. Cathy had been for a ride on her bike & reported the drainage problem.
2. The rain is very welcome for these clinging Ivy plants, the tree was covered!
3. We did a bit of shopping before the mask rule comes in force tomorrow. Lots more masks being used today!
I was expecting to see you hugging the tree as the tirle came up before the image.. You would if looked a?bit suspicious wandering the cemetery with a drill!..
@s4sayer interesting to hear how other countries are coping...we start mask wearing tomorrow too although lots of us have been wearing them anyway in closed in places! Anything simple like that is easy to implement & if it helps must be done!
We pull out every little ivy plant that we see here - have found that it will encircle and destroy trees by cutting out the light and taking all the food. Its attractive on buildings but is also bad with those suckers it has!
Plants do like drainage. Well we are mask mandated, my audiologist was selling hearing aid friendly masks yesterday when I picked up my new hearing aids. The side elastics are long and go high on your head, away from your ears.
@louannwarren Sounds just the thing Lou Ann. I saw a lady in Booths today with ones that tied right up her head at the back. Now we have to wear them mandatory I might source some different ones like the ones you’ve seen.
@maggiemae Yes you’re right about the damage it does, we seem to have lots of climbing ivy in the UK all the damp & lack of sunshine probably & generally peaking we don’t bother pulling ivy off unless it’s really bad.
Lovely fresh leaves. Very few people wear masks here now but we prefer wearing them in shops than not - better safe than sorry with the airport and seaport open and the influx of tourists.
I love the look of ivy somewhere else........when we moved in, I ripped it off the walls and trees here as it sucks the life out of them! Still looks pretty though.
