At last we have some action!
The gardening firm arrived today & even after two hours made an enormous amount of difference. It looks half as big again.
The bit cleared up to the wooden fence is where Harry’s man shed is going.
Such tidy workmen....they put boards down everywhere that crawler machine went.
The Elm tree is apparently a Hornbeam tree now! Both so called experts that told us different so not sure who to believe now.
Three good things:
1. It didn’t snow overnight so no problem starting. It’s snowing now but just snow showers.
2. They came fully equipped with drinks & food! Farmers are used to feeding everyone that comes to work doing something so that was a very nice surprise.
3. I have been to have my eye checked out this morning but was sent to the wrong specialist. As it happens I have to see an eye consultant & as he was in the next door office he had a quick look but back next week. Nothing serious just a sort of unsightly cyst thing on my eyelid which I’m fed up with.
Ooh Pat - you will see the difference and the plot will appear so much bigger ! Nice to have neat workers , I am sure you are looking forward to your new designed garden (as well as your home interior ) Exciting times Pat !
Great to see things happening at last. Your garden will soon be transformed! Looks like you had a much better day than we had here. We woke up to a covering of snow and it has snowed very lightly most of the day but none of it has settled. No sunshine at all.
Looks like a beautiful day for it! Great to breathe new life into a garden and your workers are actually covid compliant - ours generally say yes to a piece of cake!
They are doing a great job clearing out your garden area, Pat! It'll be ready for you to do your thing with the space.
If the leaves of the tree with two identities are asymmetrical at the base, it's likely an elm.
Hoping your eyelid clears quickly. I know that must be annoying for you.
@pdulis Thanks Peter that’s what I’m hoping they will do....we seem to be doing a lot of telephone surgery appointments at the moment, not quite the same as a proper visit to get the proper diagnosis.
@maggiemae We did the same Maggie....took a lot of looking after at hay time especially. It was nice to just leave them to,it, they didn’t even want a drink.
@peggysirk will check when the leaves arrive Peggy...I have seen it with leaves but not had a proper look. I didn’t actually think it looked like a hornbeam shape when I looked at a photo. We shall see.
@beryl We have been amazed at how little mess there is...well there is no mess. After all that rain Harry was really bothered they would be churning all the grass up but not a mark.
Great to get some action happening.. Hopefully you eye prob is sorted quickly..
Gone are the days when we have to make B&E pies sandwiches and scones .. I remember my Dad coming home from a big day turning hay for a contracting and all they gave him was an iceblock.. I guess with getting caught out like that was when things started to change.
Great to have things taking shape. I wonder if Harry is getting a new shed or did you transport it from your previous house?
I love tidy workmen. If they look after the space they're sure to do a good job!
Beautiful shot and the men are doing a great job. The garden will look splendid by the time they are finished. You asked me about the temperature here - today it's around 18C max. We are going through a lovely spell at the moment but sunshine is intermittent.

It’s quite exciting I must say...we must have at least another 8 foot all round extra.
