Parlick

Coming down from Beacon Fell yesterday I stopped the car to catch this view of the Bowland Fells.
Parlick the cone shaped one on the right & Fairsnape Fell to the left.
In 2010 Brian our eldest son together with the then 16 year old twins climbed Parlick on New Years Day before they emigrated to NZ in the Spring.

Three good things:
1. Glad we aren’t farming in this cold weather we would be boiling kettles all day defrosting water pipes to the cattle.
2. We did some gardening this morning. Although the rough work has been done there is much more to do tidying up & getting stuff they have missed. Really it’s only the start of getting the garden shipshape.
3. I’m reading a really good book called The Dry by Jane Harper. It’s a crime novel set in Australia. I have just discovered it’s been released as a film last month. The book has won numerous awards & I'm enjoying it.

What a breathtaking view with those clouds hanging so low and the dappled sunshine and that lovely expanse of green. I would have stopped too!

What a view Pat, not surprised you stopped. The clouds add so much to the scene. Would love to see this on a misty morning.

A wonderful scene with the enormous heavy cloud in the sky ! The land looks so green Pat ! I do not envy you gardening in this weather ! The wind was so cold today in spite of the weak watery sun on occasions !

What a lovely view. You will miss your sons and grandchildren when they emigrated to New Zealand.

I saw the movie The Dry a couple of weeks ago and really enjoyed it. Glad you are enjoying the book.

Very smooth hills and not too hard to climb, I would think. I'll look out for that book as just started to read Aussie novels surprisingly. Always thought they were a bit shallow but found differently now!

@maggiemae I had no idea until I googled tonight as I couldn’t remember the author that it had been made into a film. It’s a good read so far. Yes not too hard to climb, no difficult surfaces.

@beryl Well it was called but very sunny, just sweeping the edges really as they had used a leaf blower to get the bits of the lawn...weird as they all went over the plants.

Nice composition with the clouds so low. I've made a note of the book - it's my turn to choose the next book for the book group

@lucycameron It was very clear this morning but never noticed it when we went up in the fog last week.

@gijsje I haven’t been in our library fir a while. You can borrow but have to tell the librarian in advance what type of books you read & they will pick you a selection. I haven’t tried it yet as I have been using my kindle.... not spending much else on going out so been buying books on kindle instead....I prefer reading on it as it’s so portable & I can read in the night without putting the light on.

VML the sun and shadow over Parlick. Splendid textures of moody clouds, their shadows and the greensward.

Always good to stop at special places to take a photo, especially significant ones that are landmarks in life.
They take us to faraway places!!

I like the way you have captured the cloud hanging over the landscape

Another gorgeous landscape shot! (I'm going backwards to catch up). The low hanging clouds are awesome, as are the vibrant colors!
I read The Dry a while back and enjoyed it. It should work well as a movie.
