The builders have finished digging the drains today. Needed to get cracking as Phil says everyone is coming next week....windows & front door, plumber & electrician.
Three good things:
1. Our floor tiles have arrived at the tile shop.
2. Our neighbour across the road came across to tell the builder that there was a car parked outside our house at 2.15am, they looked through the gates but went away....he caught it all on his house security camera. It’s well locked up but we need to be vigilant. Will be glad when it’s secure at the end of the week.
3. I’ve ordered the house name sign.
Bound to be house oriented because it’s going so fast! Amazing in fact - great builders. Honestly there are so many chancers about- good for your neighbours - 3 out of 5 houses on our little stretch of road have cameras (2 due to car vandalism and 1 because they’ve done lots of building work & had materials in the garden). The police caught the car vandal because of somebody else’s camera. Adam says everybody in London has one (or at least a fake!)
@judithg We had pretty much decided not to bother with cameras & the electrician said he would out a dummy up if we wanted. I do think they saw it was a building site & perhaps they could chance their arm & pick something up. If they wanted to get in I’m sure they could bring lock cutters but risky with the neighbours around. I think Phil would be more bothered about his digger. Good they are keeping their eyes open for us round & about!
Such an exciting project to be a part of and I'm very impressed at the speed at which everything is progressing. Nice capture. Let's hope there are no more nocturnal visitors!
👍, our elevator was to be installed this week ; it got cancelled because the van with all the tools inside to install it, got robbed ...our builder told me, it happened to him twice and it happens to all of his collegues ; tools and equipment get stolen from the houses they work in on a regular base , as well...the world we live in 😞
Ee this is going well! It won't be long till you are sitting in this house, drinking your cup of tea and saying "I'm glad that's done and look how far we've come!"

Awesome that you have vigilant neighbors keeping an eye on things. Living in the city, we finally decided to get a security cam after so many cars have been broken into. But then, we go off for a week leaving one of the doors unlocked. 🤷♀️
@happypat yes good neighbours are the best thing. Since our donations box was stolen I’ve been worrying about parcels left in full view so the camera is good for that too. We needed an electrician for it - it looked like it was straightforward but it wasn’t!
