Baggin is a the time of the day when the work stops & you take a short break.
A cup of tea or a brew & a bite to eat perhaps.
Saw these chaps as we walked the canal path.
Three good things:
1. Weeding! Hard work in the sun today but a good job done. Not finished but it looks better.
2. A sunny day at last!
3. Looking forward to a quiet lazy day tomorrow fingers crossed!
Interesting looking building...
Good job on the weeding and can be hard work in the heat.. Job I need to get done as well.. easy to put off in the colder weather..
I’ve definitely heard of a brew, but haven’t heard of baggin. At home it was referred to as having “mashed”! I do find the English language, especially the colloquial stuff fascinating.
Nice that they can be outside for a brew!
A lovely scene with the pop of orange attracting the eye to the men ! - never heard of baggin !! - but then why should I Language and dialects are so interesting and complex aren't they ! In welsh the old term used for the men stopping for a mid morning cuppa and a sandwich was "bait "-- I wonder was it a Welsh version of bite ( a bite to eat !! ) So hot today how did you manage to be out to weed ! I am afraid I lay low in the shade !
@beryl I e heard of bait before Beryl….another good descriptive word! I was a fool out in the sun…I drank loads last night but I can look out on the garden with no guilt….still weeds but I can’t see them! 🤣
Baggin time! I absolutely love that. I had a fiance once who was from Yorkshire and he always talked about mashing the tea. I always remember the laugh of the Carry on up the Khyber film and how they had "Tiffin Time" in the afternoon.......though that was a bit of a double entendre where Sid James was concerned LOL
