Some of you may remember that ten years ago I was chief steward in the Horticultural marquee at the show.
It was the Queens Golden Jubilee when we did our last show & this year the Platinum anniversary we were on duty again.
The steward had a wedding today so we were asked back.
I was worried I wouldn’t remember how to do the scoring but it all came back.
I must say Dot & I thought it wasn’t a patch on our organisation…. We had the marquee all decorated with flags etc….not one today!
No wine afterwards either ….we always opened a bottle after we had finished! It’s a hard slog from the Wednesday when you start setting up until after judging then we can relax.
Sorry might be a bit lax with comments this weekend!
I must too take this opportunity to thank you all for the comments on my photos recently. I do try & answer some but feel I have done badly lately so for that I feel bad….will try better! 😀
Ooh, I curtseyed looking at this. Pat, the Judge! Must be such a fun and interesting thing to do. Do people try to bribe you with cream cakes and wine so they win? LOL
@maggiemae@casablanca Not the judge thank goodness ….I was stewarding during the judging! It involves a team of runners, judge accompanying & writing down the positions on a chart & filling in the first, second & third cards. Quite a bit to it but you learn. You have to add up all the scores & then find out who has won each trophy!
The board is on display afterwards & I can tell you it’s very well viewed by all entrants, if there is a mistake they soon tell you!
