A quick post, I will post my proper photo for today later.
Does anyone know what this piece of equipment is?
We have been to buy a kettle as our other one started to leak.
I left Harry in the hardware shop while I went across the road to Booths....this is what he came back with.
@sabresun Ha ha you are right Matt......not that though...I am really surprised no one has guessed...it looks so obvious to me...I think you are all pretending not to know for my benefit!!
To start with I thought it was something like a thing that you take your boots off but it is too fancy for that and it has a chain or something to hold it down. We are all going crazy now trying to work it out!
Looks like the bucket on our tractor used for scooping up dirt etc. So I'm thinking a hand held scoop of some sort but I'm at a loss to know what he wants to scoop.

I wil tell you , it's a mole trap! This is the time of the year when every self respecting farmer is out setting his mole traps. Poor little furry blind things they are but a total nuisance in the fields. The soil gets into the silage & hay crops spoiling feed for the cattle.
On another point though a fresh mole heap is wonderful soil for potting plants on!
You dig down in the line between two mole hills & set the trap so the run runs through the jaws of the trap. The mole runs through & the jaws snap shut ....sorry too much detail! You can tell if your trap has gone off from the surface because the arms of the trap are together. You quite often see rows of moles on a barbed wire fence but that is rather gloating I think.....not a pleasant job because the poor little moles are only doing their thing!
@maggiemae Just read what you have written & had to delete my previous comment........that would be the day maggiemae!! No Mr Grey in this house ha ha! Answer as above ! I thought John might have known that one!!
You posted the answer too quick. I was probably still in bed when you posted this. You have to make allowances for us in the southern hemisphere who are 11 hours in front of you, ha ha. Having said that though I was watching New Tricks and Foyles War last night on TV so didn't check out 365 before I went to bed.
David thought it was for putting logs on a fire, but now I see a mole trap. I did tell David that you were farmers and there was probably a clue there after he had suggested the log thing though.
@onewing Yes I should have waited Babs! Saying that I do realise you are ahead of us, that's why I sometimes miss your posts......by the time I getbup in the morning you are way down the list of new posts by the time I get to look. Ok if I do some commenting in the morning but I do not comment on yours as much as I should thank for looking Babs. Will check you out now!
@maggiemae I remembered that after I had posted!! Lucky you, they are little burrowing Devils!! Sweet but not what you would want coming up in the middle of your lawn!
