After visiting Elgin's Cathedral on Friday morning, I headed east to visit some of the cute coastal villages. This is Crovie, pronounced 'Crivvy'. No cars allowed down in the village - there is a residents' car park higher up the cliff and a visitors' car park even higher up. There is nothing down on the sea front except houses and washing lines. I believe that most of these houses are now holiday homes as it would be a very impractical place to live here these days. But it's beautiful. From Crovie I walked around to Troup Head, an RSPB nature reserve where I was able to watch gannets and various other seabirds nesting. A beautiful area and I was fortunate to visit on a lovely day with little wind.
How lovely to see that unspoilt village….. I hope it stays that way plus I love washing lines! How nice it it to have a day to yourself too now & again!
@happypat I took two days out and thoroughly enjoyed them! I love washing lines too - I got some actual washing later in Pennan. I'll post that another day.
@koalagardens On the left is a small breakwater and the beach pebbles. The houses are all very close to the sea! You'll notice that a lot of the houses present their gable ends towards the sea, and you can see why!
I thought it was very interesting to see washing lines at the front of the house but then I noticed they have their backs to the sea (or sides at least) which, yes, is very close.
It sounds as if you chose a perfect day and had a great time.
Glad you had a good trip 😊
