Krathong, which are an offering – traditionally made out of a banana stalk and adorned with candles, incense and some money – are floated down the rivers in Northern Thailand at Loi Krathong Festival. In Chiang Mai, people sail these down the Ping river at the same time wishing for hopes for the future to be fulfilled. My friend and I did this, and we got very muddy feet in so doing!
