They predicted rain today, but the sun decided otherwise; so Gracie and I took a walk. A Red-winged Blackbird trilled from the top of some tree. I couldn't locate him, but I heard him loud and clear — such a welcome spring sound! Then my work began in the other half of the familyroom where I spent most of my time on a stepladder washing windows.
This half houses mementos galore — a cowboy hat from Mike's teenage years, my high school letter, a watercolor of our previous home, a cross-stitch that really should be hanging someplace more prominent, and I could go on and on. I call the two walls displaying the collection my "hodge-podge walls." Only one thing unites the items hung there: love. We love each item displayed, and gazing at the walls takes us on a trip down memory lane.
In the center of this somewhat pub-style space sits a large pool table — the site of too many fun times to count! During our annual Christmas party, friends and family gather around for game after game of pill ball while the nickelodeon belts out Christmas carols and love and laughter fill the room — I smile just thinking about those treasured times. This room has happy written all over it.
I praise you, Lord, for fun times in the familyroom.
