It's really (I think) the moulted skin of a Shieldbug which got caught on a spider thread waiting for me to find it.

The detail this combination can produce is amazing and using the "S" setting means there is less cropping.
Now know this is the exuvia (shed exoskeleton) of most likely a Hawthorn Shieldbug.

@koalagardens it definitely is eerie, but the really fantastic thing about macro is the ability to SEE when once we only LOOKED. This empty skin has brought a whole new dimension to my hobby. Couldnât image what the inside of a common insectâs outer shell looked like.
