Looking Up At the Stars through the Lighthouse Beams
A friend wanted to go out last night to practice shooting stars and I suggested we go to the nearby light house. She had volunteered here a lot and told me her favorite thing was to sit with her back against the lighthouse and have a glass of wine and a brownie. We didn't have either but it is a perspective I'd never seen before. Totally awesome. The shot is noisy but I really like it nevertheless. Hope you will. More shots from the photoshoot will appear later.
Thanks for your visits, suggestions, comments, favs
Wow Jane that's amazing, must be viewed on black to fully appreciate! What a super pov and the beams of light from the lighthouse are the icing on the cake. Big FAV.
I'm just looking at this image again and was wondering if it would also work well if you crop it slightly to lose the bit with the yellow light and the diagonal stripy bit i.e. just a bit?
@paulaw thanks for the suggestion. I tried that before posting but didn't like it. I think I need to go back and shoot it again with a slightly different perspective. Since I couldn't really see my led screen from the angle I shot from and it was at the very end of the night's shoot, I didn't get the shot I can see is possible!
Well it's great as it is but as you say another, maybe even better shot is possible. Hopefully the conditions will be just right again as they appear to have been here. Look forward to seeing it :)
Love, love, LOVE this!! I wish I could FAV it more than once!! What a wonderful POV.....and, a terrific shot!! Now I am going to have to check out our one and only lighthouse and see if it does that....
OMG -- how you thought you could improve on this is beyond me. This is a perfect as it gets. What a gorgeous scene, wonderful lighting, amazing stars, and those bands of black make the shot totally intriguing. What caused those?
@taffy The bands of black are how dark the sky was in the places where the beams weren't lighting it up. What I wanted to improve was I wanted to get in a slightly different spot such that the yellowish structure wasn't in the frame. I did that last night in the fog. Will post shots from that perspective tomorrow or so. Crazy weekend.
@jgpittenger No rush. I can barely get to computer without being rude to family!! Taking photos but can't even download for now. But good to have the time together.
Wow this is simply stunning!! Fabulous pov!! I love everything about this shot and wish I could sit next to the lighthouse with you to see this!! Huge Fav!!
wow this is a stunning night sky shot - I have seen many and would love to emulate - but this use of the lighthouse is a new one to me - I will head to my nearest lighthouse at Portland myself - are you able to share the camera settings?
@handymaurice I particularly like it being better for shooting birds in flight and it handles noise a bit better. I love both of them and it's nice to have the option of still having a camera when one goes to the repair shop... an at least 6 weeks happening so far not needed though
@jgpittenger many thanks - I've read about the noise handling and of course Christmas is coming! However I think its my technique that should improve before I change the camera.
Excellent shot...great POV and a lovely edit.
Congrats on TT!
