Lavender Waxbill

The people who own the place we are staying brought in a truck load of macadamia nut mulch yesterday which attracted a bunch of new birds. This is one I have never seen before- sadly less clear a shot than I would have liked but he landed and took right off and I never saw him for a second chance.
Beautiful

I love this composition! The bird shows how huge that leaf actually is (even if it's a tiny bird). I'm glad you're a quick-shooter; anyone who likes to think about a shot before pushing the shutter would have missed out.

When I first moved into my house I bought a truckload of firewood and could not believe all the different bird species that "came out of the woodwork" to peck at the bugs in that mountain of wood. Sadly that was before I had anything but a P&S.
