Today was Shinkansen Day for me, especially. One student had lost her rail pass the previous day so I had to take a nearly five-hour round trip train ride to retrieve it, then reunite with the group to continue two more train rides to our destination, our sister school in Urasa. I wanted to capture the way in which the conductors peek out of the train to watch for people on the platform as they pull into a station; I found this image to be especially interesting because bullet trains move so fast you just don't think of anyone being able to open a window at all!
Great shot. Nearly five hours to retrieve? Yikes. You are so good. Hope you are having a fantastic time! Love all the photos and narratives. I'm faving so many between you and Vankrey and will show them to Kira! Our friend who is on an exchange visit on the coast is having a wonderful time. We love the tours we are getting! :)
I am surprised too that you can open a window. That's like opening a window on an airplane. I like the incongruity of the conductor against the sleek train.
