So I said, when I started quilting. You know, coasters, pot holders, maybe cushions. And here it is, a king-sized bed quilt. The problem? Our bed is queen-sized.
I just finished this quilt top today, although I started it three years ago! I'm so excited I'm posting midday, without waiting to assess what my best photo of the day is going to be. I mean, how could any other image be better than finishing a quilt top? Lots of Kaffe Fassett fabrics in this quilt top.
Oh my goodness, that is gorgeous. You can never have too much blanket. It's perfect for those couples where one always steals the covers!! LOVE the patterns and colors!
@amandal -- thanks for your enthusiastic response, Amanda! I think you responded the second I posted the photo and it was nice to know it was immediately seen and appreciated.
@fauxtography365 -- I'm still pretty novice, too, despite the fact that I started learning 15 years ago. I rarely take time to engage in the craft, and wouldn't know how to do a thing without my wonderful friends who keep me going.
@jennwithtwons -- thanks! @jo13 -- I started it 3 years ago and spent about 5 days on it, but it mostly sat dormant for these last three years. I just spent 5 days working pretty much around the clock on it! @darylo -- Ha! Buying a new bed to go with the accidental sized quilt? Imagine me trying to explain that one!
@dolphin -- thanks, Molly! Yup. Many hours. @mzzhope - thanks for the FAV and for the enthusiastic response!! @dh -- it took me 5 days, and another 5 days, of straight sewing. Three years from start to finish. But also endless hours shopping for the right fabric! @pamknowler _- thank you for the fav and your enthusiasm for the quilt! I'm lucky I have clever quilting teacher friends who can coach me. @anazad511 -- thanks for the fav! I don't think my husband wants to sell his present . . . but I'll let him know he has the option!
@deburahiru@northy@gabberwocky@rachelwithey -- many, many thanks for your supportive comments on my part-time hobby! As you can tell, I was really excited to get it finished. @mara19500 -- what a beautiful comparison -- thanks! @genealogygenie -- a fellow quilter understands what went into this -- thanks! @sailingmusic -- Many thanks!
Thank you, all! It's gratifying to have you appreciate the endless hours of sewing sewing sewing . . .
Congratulations! It looks awesome on your bed! Such an accomplishment!
I am your get pushed partner for the week.
I would like to see a photo with interaction in it - preferably interaction between two people but not necessarily. I would like to see emotion in the shot with the interaction ... laughter, anger, sadness, whatever.
Have fun with it!
@farmreporter -- I'm so sorry I have been obsessed with finishing this quilt that I hadn't even checked get-pushed yet this this week. Thanks for the challenge. I will look at your album and issue you a challenge ASAP.
Nope, I had no idea -- just that you had a ton of projects up there!! And we DO have a king size bed! Just saying....trying to get in on the Daryl & Ana action! @anazad511@darylo
Beautiful piece of work. As someone who doesn't have the patience to sew on a button, this is pretty amazing. Lovely colours, patterns and designs. Congratulations on getting it finished and being able to enjoy it.
@taffy -- don't give it away that I have "tons of projects" in my attic hobby room! :) It's a secret. @seashell == that was my original plan -- small things! Runners and placemats sound like good next projects for me! @adayinmallacoota@roseolivia@pflaume -- thank you all for recognizing that this was a big accomplishment for me! It's so nice feeling "done" with it, except I realized last night that I still have to make bed shams or something to go with it. It will seem easy compared to this monster!
@danielwsc -- I've been wondering how long it would be before a "guy" responded to this image -- and you are the first and only so far! Thanks for not writing it off but taking time to look and respond!
@mchartwig@stimuloog@michaelelliott@helixconcepts@seanoneill -- MANY thanks for your comments . . . this image does represent a lot of effort, and I'm happy sharing it with you. @synke -- HA! Definitely crossed my mind for a minute but it would take up too much room in our small bedroom. Thanks for your comment!
Well done on completion of your beautiful quilt top, it looks impressive. I also do patchwork and in fact I've just come back form a patchwork show. Now I'm all set for the next project!
Thanks for your comments about my patchwork art. I too am addicted to patchwork and have been doing it for about 6 years. We visited Japan two years ago and I brought some Japanese fabric back with me - I have yet to start making the quilt! (It loos like I already made a comment on this picture!)
