There's so much Communist Era concrete housing in Poland, and despite the grim entry areas and exterior, the interiors are well maintained, and here you can see how painting balconies has added splashes of color. Sunlight hitting the building helps, too.
Wonderful way to add a tiny punch of color. Shows that these people have taken pride in their "homes." See that spring hadn't fully arrived here when you took the shot.
@joansmor -- you are so perceptive! I'm behind in posting (again) because my computer crashed and I had to get a new one, and then I couldn't upload photos for days for some reason -- I'm now using the "simple uploading" instead of the regular one. Thanks for your comment. And you, too @maggiemae !
very effective and interesting narrative. My fathers family came from Poland.. (my great grandfather came to NZ.. must have been some time early last century
I like the regularity of the lines and squares, along with the happy splashes of color in the individual balconies. Interesting, how some people have painted the inside walls of their balconies, too.
The color and the flowers do help, but what still comes through is the totally utilitarian orientation of the Communist era, when looking at architecture. This works well photographically with the repeating patterns and strong lines. YUCK re the computer switchover!
