Granadilla Fruit by jyokota

Granadilla Fruit

Our hotel had a huge bowl of this fruit when you check in, and this plateful in the hotel room. Part of the pomegranate family, the fruit is filled with seeds surrounded by a sweet jelly. A local person told me that you simply hit the fruit against an edge of a table or something that cracks it in half, and then you suck the seeds into your mouth, smash the jelly substance against the roof of your mouth with your tongue, and swallow the seeds because it's bitter if you chew them. Took practice, but since we had several every day, you eventually learn how to eat them. Delicious.
Fantastic picture.

I love pomegranates and recently learned a neat trick to get the seeds out, many people spit the seeds out. These look interesting. Would have to try.
