I have two friends with whom I've been quilting, knitting, eating, traveling for 20 years. This year, we made a spontaneous decision to travel to Charleston. Upon arriving at our hotel, the uber-concierge excitedly told us all about his city, and proceeded to map out our entire stay from booking every meal to planning our sightseeing, etc. We started by taking a 9pm nighttime tour of the city and he showed us through alleys, charming historic district homes, and generally gave us a sense of the magical feeling of night time in a beautiful city. To add to the ambience, it was just finishing up the evening rain so we had glistening cobblestones!
