iPhone selfie with cast

2 broken bones, Heavy plaster cast
camera left in Italy
no photography for at least 6 weeks
but as Taffy said, good chance to practice processing
and learning to use new software to dictate since I can't type

i did a tag search for other Images of casts and clearly I am the only one with a plaster white cast and Styrofoam sling in this era. Even the cat got a colored cast.
Oh no Junko this looks terrible!! My sister broke her wrist and had enough problems with the cast but yours goes right up to the top of your arm which must make it difficult for you to do anything!! Are you back home now in Chicago? It's 3 weeks today until we come to see you and you will still be in your cast - such a shame!! Take care of yourself!! See you soon!!

Ahh, poor you, Junko. I'm so, SO sorry. I somehow doubt you'll be doing much processing either, though. Fingers crossed. (Figuratively of course!!) Dictation software sounds like a great idea. Thanks so much for your posting re: "Slate". Get mended really soon. Sending all my very bestest wishes. Seb.

What??? I am so sorry...take care, and stay healthy so you can mend, mend, mend. (when I first saw your picture, I thought it was a statue)

And why is your camera in Italy? Never mind, I don't think you will be answering for a while.

@365projectorgsebgritt Thank you for your empathy Sebastian. In between the heavy codeine meds, I have a little time when I can sit up for a while. I'm practicing with Dragon Dictate.

@featherstone Thank you for the concern Sue. I was taking photos of the Hans Christian Andersen announcement when I fell and broke my bones so I left my camera and all my lenses at the convention center When I was whisked away by ambulance. The people taking care of my Camera took everything to Korea for safekeeping until my trip there in a couple of months.

Oh Junko so sorry to hear about this, what a pain (literally)

Where you in this condition when you took yesterday's photo in the cathedral? What in the world did you do? I hope it heals quickly and without problems!

@lifepause @pixiemac @skipt07 --Thank you for the empathy! I was in Italy when I had this fall and broke two bones and my camera had to be left behind so I am without a camera for the next two months! All photos I am posting were taken prior to the fall. I'm now learning to use dictation software.

Who knew photography could be so dangerous. I've had a bit of a set back due to a bumpy recovery from an operation. It's no fun not having the energy to take pictures. Take your recovery one day at a time. Anxious to see what you learn about processing.

I used Dragon Dictate to write my book - reading my mother's diary! You still have to go over it but its very fast! Poor you - how on earth did you get such a bad fracture!
April 9th, 2016
Oh dear that sounds painful, hope you're on the mend soon.

Sorry to hear about your accident
April 10th, 2016
Oh gosh, what a mess Junko, so sorry to see you trussed up like this. Take care.
April 10th, 2016
@vera365 -- As you can see and read, I've had to quickly return home and I even had to leave my cameras behind!
April 10th, 2016
Oh shit...so sorry
April 10th, 2016
@jgpittenger has said it, most succinctly. After the horrible awfulness of breaking bones, leaving a camera behind has to be painful, too. Argh. So very, very sorry!!
April 10th, 2016
I am so sorry! I really hope you heal quickly.
April 10th, 2016
oh my - you look like have you have really been in the wars - I hope you heal well and quickly
April 10th, 2016
Oh bummer!! this majorly sucks... By the time you get your cameras and cast is off you'll be a software wizard...
April 10th, 2016
@jyokota Oh Junko! Now I look at it again and it looks awful. Hope that recovery goes well. It might be quite an experiment not to take photos for a couple of months - I bet you will come back to the photography with a fresh approach. Time to read a lot of photo-books now?
Get well soon!

Oh dear I'm sorry to hear about this and hope you will still enjoy our visit to Chicago
April 10th, 2016
Aw man that looks bad. I'm glad to read that someone took care of your gear. When they say photography will really take over your life and change it, they mean it.
April 10th, 2016
Also, I found the cat picture. poor kitty.
April 10th, 2016
Very very very sad....
April 10th, 2016
OMG, do I miss everything? I'm so sorry! I remember when I sliced my finger and could not type and I was very pathetic (now I feel silly). But I did use the voice to text stuff some. I hope you feel so much better. I wish you were here--I'd cook for you all day. :)
April 10th, 2016
So sorry to hear this. Do hope you will be back to photography asap - and that maybe some processing can keep you entertained while you wait :)
April 11th, 2016
Sorry to hear about your misfortune. Good selfie.
April 11th, 2016
Oh no, I'm so sorry to hear you've broken bones. I hope it mends quickly and painlessly...
April 11th, 2016

Taffy emailed me about your unfortunate accident, but I had the flu at the time. I really hope your recovery is going well and that the bones are knitting together properly!
