Indeed, this is a quail, and it's quite small. Trish @pplutz took me to a butterfly encounter where we also saw many birds -- and these quails were running around but too fast for me to capture most.

This is a quail?! Far different than our California Quail - I'm even more impressed with this wonderful shot as I know those buggers run run run and are not easy to photograph unless they're preoccupied by eating! Beautiful subject wonderfully captured!
