Life is full of interwoven relationships. When I was a Japanese exchange student at a high school in California, there was an uncle in that family. He went to high school years before in Colorado. And when I saw him in Florida recently and told him I was going to Wyoming, he said he knew a photographer in Wyoming from their high school days. Turns out that photographer lives next door to the "boss" of the mother of the bride whose wedding I was attending. And my daughter who went to a small school in Iowa visited that boss's daughter in Paris when she was studying abroad. And that photographer took me on a day-long photo drive to photograph wildlife, but the car ride was filled with intensely wonderful talk about life, politics, and world views.
Wow -- that's striking! I remember a restaurant in that kind of a setting, when Jim and I were driving through to Yellowstone (in about 1981). And we locked our keys in the car! I don't remember how we got out of that mess but this brings it all back -- being in the middle of nowhere and not sure how to break into our own vehicle!
@danette -- do you already know Tetons and where to go and what to do? There are SO many wonderful options. I do have some places marked on my map for "stop here for photography" if you are interested. You will have SUCH fun.
@stephomy -- I hadn't been there since I was in high school and drove by them on a quick tour of the USA. I plan to go back, though. I loved my time there! Say, when are you coming to Chicago??
