Taffy and I went to the Chicago Botanic Gardens today and walked the perimeter walk, the only part that is open. They only admit by reservation, and you arrive in separate cars, wearing masks. It felt safe, and we had fun hanging out on a photowalk together! I've been trying to photograph a red-wing blackbird for weeks but usually I am on my bike when I see them at Skokie Lagoons so this was fun to be able to photograph one closer up and relatively still. I liked that when he is squawking -- as he is here -- he puffs out his wings so the red wings show up more.
Now I'm really envious that you had a superzoom! This is such a great capture as the bird has so much personality, and you were able to capture his markings so clearly. Well done -- and as always I love seeing what we photograph when standing nearby one another!
A beautiful capture! I bought a new/old book for my grand boys called The Children's Book of Virtues. I thought it had beautiful artwork and before I checked the illustrator, I guessed Michael Hague. Yes...love his illustrations! :)
