looks like a wintertime greeting card. Great control of the exposure to make the details in the fur clean and also make the snow white instead of muddy.
Haha. The chipmunks run across my yard with so much stuffed in their cheeks in summer that you can hear the contents juggling around before they even cross your path!
These closeups are absolutely fantastic -- and this one is just perfection! Love the snow flakes that are so clear, his expression, the white setting off the squirrel. It's really great!
Thank you all for your generous comments! When @taffy 's husband sent me that chipmunk video I knew I had to post this one as a response, showing what squirrels can't do but I'm sure they wish they could do like chipmunks can. (I think I'm lost on the grammar of that last sentence . . . ) Pat, you asked how I get such squirrel photos and all I can say is that I have spent a LOT of time with the squirrels in these past 11 months of rarely leaving the house and yard, and they are my backyard family and almost entirely the subject of my photography for all these months. I've also only used one lens most of this time, and I think I've been getting a lot of practice with it. Best of all, the squirrels seem willing to pose for me because they know there's a treat in between each posing session. I don't just put out food for them -- they only get fed when I'm outside with them. Thanks again for your kind comments you always give to Oliver, Baby, and the two yet-unnamed siblings.
