I'm Conkers & Potty. by ladymagpie

I'm Conkers & Potty.

When I took yesterday's photograph of the barges on the canal, I had parked up and walked about 100yds away from the car.

In the distance I could hear a bonking noise and suddenly realised I had parked underneath a conker tree (Horse Chestnut), and the top of my car was under fire.

Quickly rushing back I moved the car before it got dented, but then returned to get the conkers for this capture.

Nice capture. I never heard of these. I am glad you got your car out of the way. I wonder if insurance covers attack by conkers.

Glad you explained that as I've never heard them referred to as conkers. Potty I understand! 16 future trees there.

@libertylady @daisyjuds @kathiecb Thank you ladies, you've never heard of these. As kids we always played conkers and in fact The World Conker Championship is held in Britain. You have to Google, playing conkers.

Love the sheen on the bright red. They remind me of radishes.

@ladymagpie Actually we did play that and I have the knuckles to prove it! Can't remember what we called it. Not sure if kids still play around here. Likely it's a virtual version Sigh.

I'm learning so much on 365, and not just about photography...I've never heard of these...are those liitle thorns on the green/brown covering? For some reason, it makes me think of "Little Shop of Horrors".

@gerry @claireuk Thank you both for the comments.

@philcameron59 Thanks Phil, if the kids had been throwing sticks at the tree with my car underneath, they would have to learn canal swimming very quickly.

I've heard of chestnuts, but never of horse chestnuts / Conkers. They look beautiful. But, I do have to ask, how big is a Conker? I'm guessing huge if it can dent a car top. I admit, I am laughing, but I do hope your car came out dent free.
