Looking at the Heart of the Valleys. by ladymagpie

Looking at the Heart of the Valleys.

Firstly and most importantly, my Forest Green Rovers team beat championship side Bristol City last night in a very close match, which ended 2-2. Rovers go through to the next round after a penalty shootout which they won by 6 pens to 5.

This is my last capture from the other day, and I've swung left from the previous picture of the houses on the hill. If you remember I said the 5 valleys are like a starfish, and here we are looking at it’s head or heart of the valleys. Unfortunately the town is in another dip behind the near homes.

Look closely in the centre you will see the square tower of Rodborough Church, the place where my favourite Niece got married, (alright she's my only Niece which still makes her my favourite).

The church had a world famous Vicar, the one and only the Rev. Wilbert Vere Awdry. I can hear some of you saying, " Who on earth is that?". Well I'll put it to you another way, he wrote all the "Thomas the Tank Engine" books that sold millions to children around the world and were also made into a TV series and films.

In the nave of the church is a modern stain glass window that has Thomas the Tank Engine in. The reverend died in Rodborough in 1997, with his ashes interned in the Gloucester Crematorium.

As you can see this is a very hill area to live in which was lovely whilst I was young, but today with my dodgy knees I sometimes wish I lived in Norfolk which is flat, well I wouldn’t really I just love this area.

I wonder if I could manage a motorised scooter to get about, keep smiling.
