Watching and waiting

I was so happy when I went to Spier on wednesday looking for the little malachite kingfischer and found him!

On a few previous occasions he was not around and I was rather disappointed.

He seems to find a spot and just sits there staring at the water. I waited a while, but he eventually flew off.

Again heavily cropped in topaz gigapixel.

Perhaps he's meditating: mirroring himself in the water and pondering how gorgeous his colours are.
