Big Momma by ludwigsdiana

Big Momma

maybe going to give birth soon and seems to be protecting her eggs.

While I was at eagle encounters yesterday, they showed me what a pregnant chameleon looks like and I learned something.

Cape dwarf chameleons are vivparous, meaining that they retain their eggs in the maternal reproductive tract until developement is complete.

Females give birth to between 5 and 15 offspring, and newborn babies are selfsufficient. Breeding can occur all year round.

For those interested, I have added a link of the live birth. https://youtu.be/eJ_5hWVeHas
She is a beaut!

Thanks for including the link. This is truly amazing and so interesting to see.. I worried about the babies from the other mama but it’s good to know they are self-sufficient at birth.
